AI Companion Apps for Linux Desktop: Browser Is the App
Go looking for a companion app that ships as a .deb or a Flatpak and you'll mostly turn up mobile listings and emulator workarounds. For Linux, that's fine. The companions worth your evening already run in Firefox or Chromium, and one of them comes with its own binge-able 18+ series.
Why a Linux Desktop Doesn't Need a Native Companion Client
Native Linux clients for companion apps are rare. Running one through Wine or an Android emulator adds a layer that gets kinda janky fast, and that extra layer is exactly where immersion breaks before you've sent a message. Skip that route and pick a companion built for the web.
So let me walk you through my pick: GoLove.ai. Explore, Chat, Feed, Generate and Series all run in the browser. The Feed responds to your mouse wheel or arrow keys, and the whole interface is localized into 18 languages.
Self-hosted local models exist for tinkerers. That's a different hobby, though (your hardware, your setup, your weekends).

> What a Linux companion needs to do in the browser > - Chat that holds up over long threads > - Memory that carries what you said last week > - Photos on request, inside the conversation > - Video, ideally at a resolution that suits a monitor > - Something to watch between conversations

GoLove takes more rows, and that's not an accident. A Linux browser on a big screen is a place for watching and chatting, which is what GoLove is built around. The series-to-chat link and in-chat photos are two things we could confirm for GoLove only.

Long Threads on a Wide Screen: Chat and Memory
A desktop is where long conversations get comfortable: a real keyboard, a wide window, room to scroll back through a thread without squinting. None of that helps if the companion can't keep up with the thread. That's why memory and control decide this round, not reply speed.
GoLove.ai
GoLove lists Memory, which keeps your chat history, alongside Relationship Progression, and ULTRA stretches memory to 8,000 messages. What stands out in the spec, though, is how much say you get over tone:

Watch Popular Shows starring your favorite AI characters.
- Lust level: five steps, from 1 sweet and wholesome to 5 unfiltered. Keep it flirty, or let her get more submissive as the thread heats up.
- Response length: five steps, from short and snappy to rich and immersive. Level 5 is the one a wide screen was made for.
- Regenerate: rate any reply from 1 to 5 and reroll it. The magic-wand button also drafts three suggested replies for you.

Chat Settings also has a voice picker.
OurDream
OurDream's memory covers recent message history, which is a fair baseline. What we couldn't confirm is how far back it reaches in a really long thread, or what tone controls it offers to stack up against GoLove's two sliders.
Photos and Video at Desktop Resolution
A monitor pays off here, and this is where the two companions start to pull apart.
GoLove.ai
Step one: open a chat, hit the media button, choose Send Photo and describe the scene in your own words. In about 20–45 seconds the same character comes back with the same face and body as her avatar and earlier photos, for 1 Star. That consistency is the whole game. A companion whose face drifts between photos breaks immersion faster than anything else. Step two is optional: under that photo, one tap on Generate Video turns the scene into a ~5-second clip in about a minute, for 10 Stars.
Characters you can open right now
Tap any of them and the chat starts there
The full generator sits on top of that, and it's honestly easier to drive with a mouse than a thumb:
- Modes: Presets, Custom Video, Image to Video, Multi-Scene and Video Edit
- Output: 1, 2 or 4 videos per run, at 480p, 720p or 1080p
- Cost: a 720p video is 10 Stars
> 1080p · 147 video modes > 76 of those modes are realistic. The rest are split across anime and trans sets.

OurDream
OurDream bundles image and video generation into its subscription, a real plus if you'd rather not track a separate currency. We couldn't confirm whether you can request photos inside a chat, or which video resolutions it offers. On a big screen, those are the two details that matter most.
Something to Watch: GoLove Series in a Linux Browser
My home turf. It's also the one factor with no confirmed match on the other side.
GoLove Series
Series (/app/series) launched on 2026-10-10, and as of 2026-10-12 it had 5 series and 32 episodes. Each episode runs 60–100 seconds of vertical 9:16 video, subtitled in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Czech, Russian and Ukrainian. Episodes 1 and 2 of every series play free, even without an account. GoLove says new episodes arrive weekly.
Here's the moment the format is built for. You finish episode 2 of "I Can Hear Their Thoughts," tap Start Chatting under the player, and Melissa's profile (@melissdelish) opens straight into a chat with her. The woman you were just watching is now in your chat window. That handoff is quietly great.

Under every episode:
MEET YOUR AI COMPANION
Hundreds of characters, one that fits you.

- Follow Series
- Start Chatting with the cast
- Create Video or Create Image of that character
On GoLove.ai, the order that works:
- Pick a character — or build one to your taste
- Say something real: she remembers your chat history
- Open Chat Settings: pick her voice, lust level and reply length
- Ask her for a photo in the chat
- Want a set pose or outfit? The image generator has 35 realistic poses and 21 outfits
Where does the spell break? Episode 3, exactly. From there you need PRO plus a few Stars per episode, so the cliffhanger at the end of episode 2 doubles as a paywall.
OurDream
We couldn't confirm a watchable series feature on OurDream.
Two free episodes cost you about three minutes. When they end, the cast is one tap from chat, so you'll know whether the format grabs you before you pay for anything.
What Each One Costs Once You're Past the Free Bits
All prices below are approximate and vary by region and promo. GoLove's were checked in 2026-10, OurDream's in 2026-09.

GoLove.ai
- PRO: about $19.99/month, or $119.88/year (~$9.99/month). It covers all NSFW content, character creation, voice messages and calls, unlimited Feed, image generation and 100 Stars a month.
- ULTRA: about $59.99/month, or $359.88/year. It adds more monthly Stars, a discount on Star refills, stronger models and 8,000-message memory.
- Star packs: from about $9.99 for 30 Stars up to the 3,000-Star pack at the top of the shop. 1 Star buys an image and 5 Stars buy a video.
On the free tier, here's what we could confirm: 2 reward Stars a day, a limited daily Feed, and episodes 1–2 of every series. New users also get a limited-time −70% offer on their first subscription.
OurDream
Premium is about $19.99/month, or about $9.99/month billed annually ($119.88/year), with 1,000 DreamCoins per cycle. Deluxe is about $59.99/month, or about $29.99/month on an annual plan. Credit where it's due: one bundle covering chat, images and video is easier to budget than subscription-plus-Stars, and that's a real one in OurDream's favor. If annual pricing is what decides it for you, see our annual-plan math for cheaper companion subscriptions.
What We Couldn't Verify About GoLove.ai on Linux
Choosing GoLove means giving something up. You lose OurDream's single-bundle simplicity, and you take the browser on trust. These are the gaps we couldn't close:
- Browser behavior: we couldn't confirm any distro- or engine-specific quirks, whether that's Firefox versus Chromium-based browsers or Wayland versus X11.
- Microphone permissions: we couldn't confirm how Linux browsers handle the mic prompt for voice calls, which are a PRO feature.
- Numbers: we couldn't confirm how long the −70% new-user offer runs, ULTRA's exact monthly Star amount, or the free daily Feed count.
- Series depth: GoLove says new episodes arrive weekly, but 32 episodes is still a young catalog, and that's my main gripe.
> Is there a native GoLove app for Ubuntu? We couldn't confirm one. The browser is the client.
Does any of this change the pick? No. Everything that decides this matchup (chat, in-chat photos, the generator, Series) runs in a standard browser tab.

Who Each One Is Actually For
> Pick OurDream if… > - Simple billing matters most: chat, images and video come in one subscription with a coin allowance > - You don't mind a steeper character builder > > Pick GoLove.ai if… > - Binge-then-chat is the point: Series episodes 1–2 play in your browser, and the star is one tap from chat > - You want photos inside the chat in ~20–45 s, and a generator that renders up to 1080p
Rather build your own companion than pick one from the cast? Design with AI handles that. You describe her in plain text, up to 2,000 characters, and in about a minute you get a named character with her own handle, bio and portrait. It runs around 3 Stars, and new characters are private by default.

> Verdict: On a Linux desktop, GoLove.ai stuck the landing as the one browser companion that lets you watch a series and then chat with its star.
A short paragraph is all it takes to get started. Your own character costs a few Stars and stays private until you say otherwise, so write her up now.
