The Only Mortal in Heaven — Episode 7: A Way Back

Episode 7 opens with a summons: the archangel needs Angel at once, and William is left on his own beside a tall window. The hall feels hungry. Demons drift past and stare, as if a living man were a rare delicacy. Asmodea glides toward him in black leather, purring that tonight still stands and he had better not keep her waiting. Then she leans close enough to breathe him in, and her smile cools. She smells feathers.

When Angel reappears, golden marks shimmer along her legs, and she carries news that changes everything. Old chronicles hold the answer: William could return to Earth. 'Back? I'm dead,' he says, stunned. She promises to lay out the whole rite once they reach the ward, and Asmodea purrs that she wouldn't miss it. At his bedside the truth lands softly and cruelly. He would walk the world alive again, yet both women guarding him must pay for it.
